Malaysia Airlines unveils Negaraku livery on B737-800 aircraft
Sepang, 10 July 2017 – Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) today unveiled the Negaraku livery on the airline’s B737-800 aircraft. The event was officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, during an internal Hari Raya gathering with management and staff of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG). The livery is part of the Negaraku initiative, a nationwide movement driven by Malaysians for all Malaysians with the objective of fostering unity among all and inspiring the spirit of patriotism.
The B737 aircraft, the first of several to display the national flag, will be flown and be made visible across international flights below seven hours, such as to Shanghai and Perth.
Chairman of MAG, Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof, said “The Negaraku livery embraces the spirit of nationalism, carrying with it the essence of the unique Malaysian values across the world. It is also an important symbol of the good progress seen in the turnaround plan, as the national carrier rebuilds itself, whilst flying the flag across the skies as it works to become the pride of the nation again. We thank the Prime Minister for the Government’s strong and continuous support for the restructuring, which has been an important component contributing to the progress of our efforts so far. ”
Chief Executive Officer of MAB, Peter Bellew, added that Malaysia Airlines is proud to display the Negaraku livery across the world.
“We are extremely happy and proud to be able to welcome the Prime Minister to our premises as we celebrate Hari Raya as a family and unveil the Negaraku livery on our aircraft. We, the Malaysia Airlines family, are working hard to rebuild this great airline, making it once again the pride of the nation and this livery is an important symbol of that pride. As the national carrier we proudly bear the Negaraku logo on behalf of each and every Malaysian whose flag we represent worldwide.”
In embracing the Negaraku initiative, Malaysia Airlines is incorporating the spirit of Negaraku across its collaterals on ground and online. Apart from the B737-800 the Malaysia Airlines Group will also be displaying the Negaraku livery on the ATR-72-500, with MASwings and Firefly, as well as on the much-anticipated new Airbus A350, expected at the end of 2017.
