Malaysia Airlines Engineering Division successfully goes live with AMOS - an MRO software solution
KLIA, 12 March 2019: Malaysia Airlines today announced the successful go-live of AMOS, an MRO software solution designed for the airline’s engineering department as part of its ongoing transformation journey.
The national carrier signed up for AMOS at the end of September 2017 and went live with the system in just 14 months. The system now manages more than 100 end-to-end processes within engineering, allowing the airline’s engineering department to better manage costs and increase efficiency in aviation maintenance, but still maintain the highest standards of reliability and safety. The short time frame and the spectrum complexity in which the project was completed has been recognised as industry leading for engineering and maintenance.
AMOS’ successful implementation is a major milestone for the transformation of Malaysia Airlines’ engineering department. The industry-best practice-processes were fully adopted to render the maintenance division future-proof.
The organizational transformation within the engineering and maintenance departments does not end with the go-live of AMOS. In fact, the airline is already looking to implement paperless solutions, to further digitalize the maintenance and engineering operations and provide a platform to connect data across the organization. New systems and processes have been put in place and much progress has been made evidenced by technical dispatch reliability rates that have improved tremendously.
The carrier also plans to enhance the provision of maintenance services to third parties. In selecting AMOS, Malaysia Airlines has taken a forward-thinking decision since AMOS allows for an MRO to successfully handle maintenance activities for their own as well as third-party aircraft. The current focus of Malaysia Airlines lies on complying with the implemented AMOS processes to benefit from the expected gain in operational efficiencies and developing the capabilities to perform maintenance activities for third-party operators while using the features of AMOS.
“With AMOS, Malaysia Airlines is looking ahead to bring airworthiness, operational and financial control to an enhanced level with the aim on the longer term to benefit from process and organisational efficiencies. As AMOS is a reputed and robust system, the baseline for Malaysia Airlines’ digital roadmap for engineering and maintenance activities has been established, with safety and security at the core of everything we do,” said Group Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia Airlines Captain Izham Ismail.
