Malaysia Airlines Enters into MoU with Universiti Putra Malaysia

 

 

KLIA, 27 February 2020: Malaysia Airlines recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) aimed at providing a common platform for both entities to excel further in various fields including aviation, engineering as well as research and development while at the same time serving as a bridge between theory and practical.

The collaboration will see both Malaysia Airlines and UPM jointly working together on areas such as student exchange programme, academic personnel industrial attachments, academic information and knowledge exchange, joint research activities, and joint development projects.

The event was graced by Deputy Human Resources Minister, Yang Berhormat, Dato' Hj Mahfuz Omar and attended by Malaysia Airlines Group Chief Operations Officer, Ahmad Luqman b. Mohd Azmi and UPM Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Dr M. Iqbal Saripan.

Ahmad Luqman said, “This is our first collaboration with a university in which the MoU covers broader scope beyond just engineering. This MoU is in line with the foundation of our Long Term Business Plan, in developing the best talents in Asia Pacific. With this collaboration, we will be able to contribute towards improving the marketability of local graduates while at the same time increase the competitiveness future engineers who will mostly undertake four years of training after SPM before getting certified as a licensed aircraft engineer by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia. Our current engineers will also be able to pursue their studies in UPM for Post-Graduate courses in the future. Besides that, this MoU provides a platform that allows us to explore further into research and development, especially on biofuel for aviation in line with our goals towards becoming a greener and sustainable airline.”

Besides broadening the knowledge and exposure to academics and industry for students and Malaysia Airlines’ employees respectively, the collaborative works between the two organizations can also provide the opportunity for exchanging not only knowledge but also experiences in this industry for all involved.
