Asia Aeronautical Training Academy Collaborates with MAB Academy to Produce Industry-Ready Pilots

• MAB Academy will become one of Asia Aeronautical Training Academy’s Industry Advisory Panels.
• Asia Aeronautical Training Academy facilitates MAB Academy as one of its’ recruitment centres.

KELANA JAYA, Selangor – SEPT 23, 2021. MAB Academy, a one-stop Aviation and Hospitality Centre of Aviation under the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) and Asia Aeronautical Training Academy (AATA), the approved Flight Training Organisation of the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM) are pleased to announce a collaboration in producing future-ready pilots in anticipation of the post-COVID-19 rebound in the aviation industry.

The collaboration will allow MAB Academy to officially become one of AATA’s Industry Advisory Panels, advising the flying academy on the relevance of their training curriculum to industry needs. In addition, MAB Academy will also provide feedback on any critical issues and challenges related to the training or any future industry requirements. Notably, the collaboration will also validate both parties to improve the current pilot training quality.

The collaboration was formalised by signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by MAB Academy Chief Executive Officer, Captain Kamarudin Kamilin, and AATA Executive Director, Ts Dr Mohammad Fahmi Abdul Ghafir. It was witnessed by Malaysia Airlines Berhad Group Chief Operations Officer, Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, and ATAS Aeronautik Sdn Bhd Group Chief Executive Officer, Captain Kenneth Yap Kean Foo, at MAB Academy recently.

Speaking at the event, Ahmad Luqman said, “MAB Academy has a long history of training excellence which has produced pilots of the highest standards, serving in many airlines around the world. This partnership is another important milestone that strengthens our testimony and aspiration to be a global Aviation and Hospitality Centre of Excellence that serves airlines and other hospitality-related industries.

We are grateful to collaborate with AATA in building a one-stop-centre for the regional aviation industry, in supporting the development of the national aviation agenda.”

Realising that the aviation industry globally is experiencing a shift in the needs for employees with a wider scope of knowledge and sophisticated skills due to advancing technology, the initiative to form this advisory panel is expected to reduce the gap between the current output of the education and training system and the real requirements and demands of the profession.

“AATA will work hard to ensure that our students are marketable and employable. The key Critical Success Factor is to have our stakeholders advising us on the training programmes that we offer. This will certainly reduce the mismatch between what we produce and what the airlines are expecting,” added Ts Dr Mohammad Fahmi.

AATA through the MoU will also facilitate MAB Academy as one of its recruitment centres. The acknowledgement given to the academy will allow students graduating from AATA to have the opportunity to work with sister companies of MAB Academy under the Malaysia Aviation Group.

Through their partnership in youth development, the AATA-MAB Academy Youth Development Programme will provide the platform for tomorrow’s generation to learn new knowledge and skills related to aviation and create awareness for those interested and passionate about taking a career in aviation. Among the activities will include facility visits, professional talks, aviation awareness camp and aviation competitions.
