Malaysia Aviation Group Lends Support in Mega Vaccination Centres (PPV)

KLIA, 7 June 2021: In a bid to support the nation’s biggest COVID-19 immunisation drive, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has mobilised 80 employees from across the Group to volunteer at two of the mega vaccination centres in Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil and KL Convention Centre beginning 7 until 18 June 2021.

The volunteers or better known as MH Rangers, comprise cabin and flight crew from Malaysia Airlines and Firefly as well as employees from subsidiaries under MAG. They are tasked with non-medical duties across various touchpoints handling crowd management, announcements, registration to name a few. The MH Rangers programme empowers all MAG employees to take part in various voluntary roles in helping turn things around in different situations.

The programme prioritises volunteers who have received or registered for the COVID-19 vaccination.

A briefing session led by the organiser was conducted on 5 June 2021 to prepare the volunteers for their role, whilst four (4) team leaders had taken part in a simulation at the two (2) venues on 6 June 2021 with the presence of the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Khairy Jamaluddin.

Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group, Captain Izham Ismail said, "We are honoured to play our part in supporting the Government ensure the smooth rollout of vaccines at the first two MPPVs by being the first corporation to respond and send our trained volunteers.

When the organisers approached us for assistance, we never hesitated and quickly rallied our employees to participate. Over 220 employees across the Group signed up for the programme in a matter of days. Despite the challenging year for us at MAG, it is heart-warming to see our employees still in high spirits to go above and beyond their call of duty, taking on volunteer roles, especially during this time of need. This act of giving back and dedication to supporting the community truly reflects the Malaysian Hospitality.

Earlier in the year we ensured the smooth and successful operation of transporting the vaccines from China and Singapore (from Belgium) to Malaysia. Being the country’s national carrier, it is our responsibility to support the country in the whole process as the success of the vaccination programme is key in helping the country achieve economic and financial recovery.”

Those scheduled for vaccination at the two stations may lookout for assistance by MAG volunteers who can be identified in their MAG branded yellow neon safety vest.
