Malaysia Airlines Joins the Arab Air Carriers’ Organization as a Partner Airline
Sepang, 19 February 2022: Malaysia Airlines has joined the Arab Air Carriers’ Organization (AACO) as a Partner Airline. The partnership will benefit both AACO member airlines and Malaysia Airlines by fostering better understanding and perhaps create synergies that would help the parties concerned in advocating a better regulatory and operational environment for the aviation industry in Asia and the Arab world.
Captain Izham Ismail, Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad said, “We are delighted to join the AACO as one of its partner airlines, further extending our reach and network to facilitate global air connectivity whilst elevating our brand presence within the Middle East and African region. At a time when uncertainty still lingers within the aviation industry, is vital for us to leverage on our strategic partnerships as we anticipate the safe reopening of our borders. Deepening our commercial partnerships is one of the key pillars driving our Long-Term Business Plan 2.0 where we aspire to become Asia’s Leading Travel and Aviation Services Group. Our appointment as an AACO partner airline presents a timely opportunity to work closely with its wide network of member airlines to leverage each other’s key strengths and expertise within R&D, safety and security, knowledge sharing in new technologies, and digitalisation. We look forward to fortifying our partnerships with AACO carriers to deliver network synergies and identify opportunities to optimise interline revenue as the aviation sector recovers.”
Mr. Abdul Wahab Teffaha, AACO Secretary General said, "Malaysia Airlines is a pioneer in aviation, particularly in terms of customer service and regional connectivity throughout Southeast Asia and beyond. The Arab region's ties to Malaysia have always been strong, and we hope that having Malaysia Airlines as a Partner Airline would strengthen those ties even more. I am confident that the collaboration will benefit both Malaysia Airlines and AACO alike."
